Multiple shared IPs in cPanel reseller account

When you get a dedicated server, you have one main and shared IP address, which is being used by every non-reseller account for which you do not chose dedicated IP. There is no functionality in WHM which would allow you to have multiple shared IP addresses on the same account, but that is achievable via SSH and some editing of cPanel configuration files.

When you login to your cPanel server via ssh, you need to edit a file in the following location:

/var/cpanel/mainips/<username>

So, if you want to have multiple shared IP addresses for your root account, you would have to edit like this (using nano):

1
nano /var/cpanel/mainips/root

You can do that for any reseller account you might have, I am personally using this for IP delegation between departments and it works just fine.
